honda fourtrax actin up

i got on my honda fourtrax 300 4x4 today start right up great like it always does shifted in first everything was fine i got up two second got a total of 250 ft. and cut off. i tried to crank and it crunk and shut right back off it has a half of a tank in gas and perfect lookin oil what could this be fourtrax guys

hmm could be carb issues maybe, timing prob possibly. Im not real sure maybe Helmut can diagnose it

u know now that u think of it. it could be timmin most time wen i cut it off they say if ur machine backfires timins off i wonder how to fix this it couldnt be carb i just cleaned it 2 weeks ago

Welcome to the forums. Your gas cap vent isn't turned off, is it? Also, did you turn your choke on and try to start it?

Have you checked to see if you're getting spark at the spark plug? Take the spark plug out, snap it back in the spark plug boot and lay the threaded part of the spark plug against the engine head/cylinder and crank the engine over and see if it sparks. You're looking for a good strong bright blue spark. You will probably have to check it inside or in the shade so you can see the spark good.

well i tried that the coil work i checked it first and the i tried that and spark plug didnt spark so therfore i reckon spark plug went bad but i just got it like a month ago it was a e3

the beast is up and runnin oriellys sold me a bad spark plug but i never new that the dang thing would crank and cut off 250 foot later thanks for help helmut and fastas
