I want your opinion
Its getting close to do more work on the Rancher. On my top end work what would you do?
1. Leave stock and just home cylinder wall to make sure it is straight and true? And just put in a 25% Gear Reduction in it. 2. Buy a big bore kit, bore it .20 new piston and rings. 3. Replace valves, seals, port and polish head and mil it down. I want to do a top end rebuild and be able to turn 28-10-12 backs or laws. Atv Mud Forum |

RE: I want your opinion
You are need a little more ooomph for the tires and you are already doing a top end, so I think punch it out. Are you going .200 or .020? and then go ahead and get the valve job done, along with the port and polish. and if all that isn't enough then you can always add the gear reduction later.

RE: I want your opinion
Somehow I missed this thread until now, but anyway..............am I missing something here? Why would you want to bore it 0.020in over if you're getting a big bore kit? Doesn't the BBK come with the sleeve for the cylinder? 0.020in over would only be a half millimeter increase in bore size. The stock bore is 78.5mm, so if you only bore it 0.020in over, that would only be 79mm. The BBK comes with an 83mm piston which would put you at 367.77cc by my calculations. I guess they just round it up to 375cc.
The stock displacement of the 350 Rancher is 329.1cc, so if you only bored it 0.020in over, that would only put it up to 333.17.

So i dunno what do you think would be best route I don't know, you're probably asking the wrong person, because I've always kept all my quads stock. LOL. I'm not much of a mudder, I just mostly trail ride and sometimes I take long rides by myself and I like to keep them as dependable as possible. Too far to walk if I break down. If you wasn't already having to do the top end, I would say just do the gear reduction, but since you're already doing the top end, this would be the time to go ahead and install a BBK, if that's what you want. I don't have any experience with BBKs, so I can't help you there. I wouldn't know what to tell you.
